Ipamorelin is a small peptide that prompts the pituitary to release growth hormone. Research asks how cleanly it can do that.
Ipamorelin is a synthetic five-amino-acid peptide that activates the ghrelin receptor on pituitary cells, prompting a pulse of growth hormone release rather than supplying the hormone. It is studied for whether that release can be triggered without also raising stress hormones such as cortisol, a selectivity shown in pigs and rats. Human evidence is limited to a volunteer study measuring the GH pulse and one randomised surgical trial that found no benefit for its tested endpoint.
